To ensure the continuity of the approach followed by the management and staff of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre in holding workshops and seminars, and in support of the new research staffs that joined the centre and to learn about their research lines, the assistant teacher (Bilal Moayad Abdul Rahim) delivered on Tuesday, 2/5/202023 a valuable lecture entitled: A study of the climatic characteristics of Anah and Al-Nukhayb stations: a comparative study.

(The climatic characteristics of the two stations of Anna and Al-Nakhib are a comparative study)

The study aims to know the elements of the climate system affected by geographical factors, including fixed ones such as astronomical location, terrain and distance near water bodies and its impact on the climatic characteristics of the study area, and to know and analyze climatic characteristics, as well as to study the relationship of mutual influence between the elements of the climate of each of the stations of Anah and Al-Nukhayb.

The study includes geographical elements (fixed / moving climatic factors) and their role in the variation of drawing the climatic picture of the two stations (Anah - Al-Nukhayb) and analyzing the climatic elements in them according to a certain period of time, which is (1980-2013) and these elements include: (solar radiation, temperatures, wind, atmospheric pressure, relative humidity, rain and evaporation).

At the end of the seminar, which was attended by the Director of the Centre and a number of researchers and specialists, the researcher made a number of recommendations, the most important of which were:

1.     Taking into account the climatic data in the field of urbanization or agriculture, this study and other studies can be used to know the nature of the climate in general and to know the characteristics of each element and its impact on the overall activities.

2.     Exploiting the elements of solar radiation and wind in generating environmentally friendly renewable electrical energy.

3.     Paying attention to vegetation and preventing logging that reduces the intensity of heat.

4.     Planting as many trees as possible to reduce dust storms.

5.     Reducing the financial fees imposed by the Meteorological Authority on the student in exchange for giving him data.
