Development of water resource management system in light of climate change


          On the occasion of World Water Day and under the auspices of The President of University of Anbar, Professor Mushtak Talib Al-Neda, the Upper Euphrates Basin Development held its annual periodic scientific symposium for this occasion in cooperation with the College of Engineering - Department of Dams and Water Resources and the administration of a Haditha dam project entitled: (Development of the water resources management system under climate change), on the scientific discussion hall in the Department of Dams and Water Resources - College of Engineering at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, 15 March 2022.

The symposium dealt with a number of valuable scientific lectures presented by a group of specialists, experts and water officials in Anbar province, which were as follows:

1-    The first lecture (opening): By Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel, Director of the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center, was entitled: "The challenges of managing water resources in Iraq in light of climate change".

2-    Second lecture: By Engineer Tarek Battal Shaher, director of the Haditha Dam Project, was entitled: "Safety and operation of dams".

3-    The third lecture: By Engineer Jamal Odah Sameer, Director of Water Resources in Anbar province, was entitled: "Water Resources Management System in Anbar Province".

4-    The fourth lecture: Dr. Qassim Ahmed Ramel, Professor of Geography, College of Litrerature, was entitled: "Climate change and its impact on water resources in Iraq".

The symposium was attended by the respected President of the University, the Dean of the College of Engineering, the Director of Engineering Affairs in Anbar province, a team representing the Ministry of Water Resources, Mr. Director of Haditha Dam and Mr. Director of the Municipality of Anah district, in addition to a large number of teaching, researchers and specialists from inside and outside the University of Anbar.

After the presentation of the lectures, the interventions were allowed for the attendants. Their interventions benefited greatly from the symposium, which was influenced by the valuable information from which a number of important recommendations were finally made, which the respected President of the University stressed the need to work with and activate because of its great importance that benefits our dear province and our beloved country.
