The Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre - University of Anbar announced the expected weather for the next week within the centre’s program for meteorology and climate monitoring, Assistant Professor Dr Ahmed Jassam Mikhlif, a climate expert in the Natural Resources Development Department at the Centre, said: Starting from the evening of Friday 15/3/2024, the northern and north-eastern part of Iraq will be exposed to the impact of a Mediterranean depression, as well as the southern parts will be exposed to the influence of the Sudanese depression, After the development of the effectiveness of the two depressions, it will be an integrated depression with thunderstorms, the effects of which will be concentrated along the eastern side of Iraq. It is highly effective accompanied by heavy rains, which will provide opportunities to enhance the water storage of dams in the region and its effects will continue until Saturday evening, while the western parts of Iraq will be clear.

It is noteworthy that the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre- University of Anbar has previously announced an ambitious program to establish a reliable database to monitor climate change and support researchers and graduate students with data within the plans of the university and the centre to achieve the goals of sustainable development and Vision 2030.
