Holding the regular meeting (third session) of the Board of Directors of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre / University of Anbar for the academic year 2023-2024, Headed by the Director of the Centre, Prof. Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel, and in the presence of the members of the Board of Administrators, on Tuesday, 2/4/2024. At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the session welcomed the attendees, and thanked them for attending this meeting in light of the Ramadan atmosphere and other official concerns, and also thanked Eng. Khamis Jassim Shehab, representing the Director of Water Resources in Anbar Governorate, appreciating the great and pivotal role played by the Water Resources Department in the province and its great support for the studies and research carried out by the Centre in the field of water resources. After that, the Council discussed the paragraphs included in the agenda, took the recommendations thereon and submitted them to the Presidency of the University for Approval, and the most important of what was stated in the agenda of the meeting is the following:

1.     Listening to a Briefing by the Director of Water Resources in Anbar Governorate on the water situation in the province.

2.     Discussing some paragraphs of the minutes of the previous meeting of the Scientific Committee of the Centre.

3.     Discussing the letter of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority No. 1176 dated 11/3/2024, which includes urging the conclusion of twinning agreements between public and private universities and colleges for all disciplines.

4.     Considering the feasibility study for the solar distillery project completed by a research team from the terminal station in Haditha district, in addition to discussing the idea of changing the name of the station.

5.     Develop a differentiation mechanism for nomination for postgraduate studies for the centre’s researchers.

6.     Expressing an opinion on the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly session (78) No. 78/132 (ICT for sustainable development).
