For the third day: the runoff events from Horan valley still active

The flow of runoff events continued in Horan valley for the third day as a result of the recent wave of rains, which included the entire area of the valley basin, amounting to more than 13,000 square kilometers.

Since this morning, the staff of the terminal station in Haditha affiliated with the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre - University of Anbar continues to conduct monitoring and measurement operations.

Engineer Juma’a Mohammed Ahmed, responsible for the research terminal station in Haditha, stated that a discharge of 170 cubic meters / second was recorded at the measurement station of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre – University of Anbar at the Horan Bridge on the Ramadi-Haditha road, at ten o'clock in the morning on Tuesday 26/3/2024. He added that at five o'clock in the afternoon of the same day, a discharge of 105 cubic meters / second was recorded at this station.

It is worth noting that for the second year in a row, flood discharges are monitored and measured in the valleys of the western region within the centre’s project to develop a solid database to study climate change and support postgraduate students and researchers in this field in implementation of the university's strategic plan to achieve the goals of sustainable development and Vision 2030.
