The College of Agriculture/University of Anbar witnessed, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Adham Ali Abdul-Muhtram, the public discussion of a PhD student (Amjad Yassin Thabet) in the Department of Soil Sciences and Water Resources tagged (Assessment of the state of degradation and characterization of the environmental sensitivity to desertification of a desert ecosystem in western Iraq). The discussion committee consisted of Gentlemen:

The study aimed to characterize and classify the soils of some areas prone to land degradation within Anbar Governorate, and to determine the degree of environmental sensitivity to desertification in the areas selected for the study through their characterization and classification using pedagogical evidence, and the production of digital maps of the degrees of desertification prevailing in the study areas for desertification using GIS.

The results were promising and important, and the thesis was accepted after making the minor corrections recommended by Mubarak's discussion committee to the student and supervisor.
