College of Agriculture discusses a master's thesis on the induction of resistance in cucumber plants

Tuesday 18. October/ 2022

The College of Agriculture at the University of Anbar discussed this morning the master’s thesis tagged (Inducing resistance in cucumber seedlings to protect them from infection by seedling fall disease caused by the fungus Pythium aphanidermatum) for the student (Mohammed Jaber Salman) in the Department of Plant Protection. Committee from:

Prof. Dr. Abdullah Abdul Karim Hassan / University of Tikrit - College of Agriculture / chairman

Assist. Prof. Dr. Theyab Abdul Wahed Farhan / University of Anbar - College of Agriculture / member

Assist. Prof. Dr. Jassim Mahmoud Abd / University of Anbar - College of Agriculture / member

Assist. Prof. Dr. Khaled Wahab Abadi / University of Anbar - College of Agriculture / member and supervisor

The study aimed to induce systemic resistance in plants using various substances such as ascorbic and salicylic acid and the biological agent harzianum Trichoderma in order to reduce the infection of seedlings disease caused by the fungus P. aphanidermatum

From what we have obtained from the results of this study, we recommend the following:

The use of mixing ascorbic and salicylic acid treatment with the bio-resistant T.harzianum in stimulating systemic resistance in plants against the pathogen P. aphanidermatum

Conducting subsequent studies to evaluate the efficiency of ascorbic acid against other pathogens and to indicate its compatibility with other biological resistances.

After extensive discussion by the committee members, the letter was accepted after making the corrections recommended by the discussion committee... Mubarak to the student and the supervisor.
