((Tensile Behavior of Slurry Infiltrated Fibrous Concrete (SIFCON) Mixtures))

{{Tensile behavior of fiber-permeated cement mortar (SIFCON) mixtures}}

Today, Thursday, 8/17/2023, at nine in the morning in Ibn Al-Haytham Hall

The aim of the study submitted by the student is to study the tensile behavior of Cefcon concrete produced using plastic fiber waste, which helps increase durability and improve tensile strength and durability of concrete. In addition to finding a sustainable solution to reuse plastic bottle waste, and reduce the cost of producing Sefcon concrete produced using plastic fibers.

The defense committee consisted of:

- Prof. Dr. Maan Salman Hassan, Chairman

- Assist Prof. Muhammad Hamoud Muhanna, member

-Dr. Youssef Khalaf Ismail, member

- Prof. Dr. Abdel Qader Ismail, member and supervisor

-Assist Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hilal Farhan, member and supervisor

The thesis included: Studying the effect of plastic fibers on the soft properties and hard properties of Sefcon concrete... in addition to studying the structural behavior of Sefcon concrete containing plastic waste fibers by casting reinforced concrete beams.

The results of the study showed that the use of plastic waste fibers in the production of Cefcon concrete led to a significant improvement in tensile strength, durability and ductility. The structural behavior of the beams also showed a noticeable improvement in bending behaviour, as the percentage of % of waste plastic fibers showed a significant improvement in durability in reinforced and unreinforced concrete samples.

The study also included two types of fiber sizes. Comparing them, the long fibers showed a greater improvement than those of shorter length in terms of tensile strength and durability.

The defense was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ameer Abdel Rahman Hilal, the respected and Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Higher Studies, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Ahmed, the respected Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Assist. Prof. Dr.  Ahmed Tariq Noman, and a number of studies students in the department

.

Congratulations to the student for obtaining his degree, and to the defense committee and success. We wish him to pursue his scientific studies.
