Seminars for chemical and petrochemical engineers

The Department of Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering organized its weekly activities for the academic year 2018/2019 (Chapter 1). Dr. Ahmed Nafea Awad, Head of Department, Seminars Seminar:

Removal of Heavy Metal Ions from Wastewater by Chemically Modified Agricultural Waste Material as Potential Adsorbent

And this on the hall of the Department of Electrical Engineering Wednesday, 28/11/2018.

The Seminar: - is part of a research plan presented by M . Dr. Hamad Khalifa Abdul Qader »Teaching in the Department.

The goal of the seminar is : -

* Highlighting the removal of toxic heavy metal ions from wastewater by using a range of agricultural and chemically modified waste materials and presenting the most important treatment techniques for removing these ions.

  * Some solutions have been proposed to try to reduce the environmental risks of heavy metals by using adsorption technology. This technique is characterized by: low cost, high efficiency ,,, reduction of chemical sludge, sludge, regeneration, Recovery "instead of traditional methods of treatment that are not economical and generate a large amount of toxic chemical sludge.

It has been shown that the use of biodegradation of toxic ions on inexpensive and effective biodegradable materials from agricultural waste materials as an alternative strategy for existing traditional systems. This technique has been tested on a wide range of absorbent materials from the cost of chemically modified plant residues, , And most studies focused on heavy metal ions such as cadmium ions, copper, Cu, arsenic, nickel, and chromium.

The seminar was attended by members of the scientific committee and a number of teachers, engineers and students of the fourth stage in the department.
