Course entitled (Principles of Laboratory Security and Safety)

Within the activities of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre and in cooperation with the Continuing Education Centre at the Presidency of the University of Anbar and under the supervision of the Director of the Centre, Prof. Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel, the course tagged: (Principles of Laboratory Security and Safety), which lasted for three days for the period 11-12/12/2023, was concluded today, Wednesday, 13/12/2023, at the Centre's headquarters.
The course was lectured by (Assistant Professor Dr. Muthanna Badie Farhan), (Assistant Professor Dr. Hala Arshad Ali) and (H. Researchers Yasser Marei Nayef).
The course included on its first day, in which Assistant Professor Dr. Muthanna Badie Farhan lectured, the aspect of security and biosafety in laboratories, where it dealt with the definition of the term Biosafety and the four levels of microbiology that are dealt with in biological laboratories and the corresponding four levels of security and safety applications for laboratories in terms of design and safety methods followed and in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization in this field,
The preventive measures that must be provided were also discussed. On the second day of the course, the topic included: (Security and Safety in Chemical Laboratories), which was presented by (Assistant Professor Dr. Hala Arshad Ali) and (H. Researchers Yasser Marei Nayef), in which they touched on the most important risks that may occur due to the presence of chemicals and ways to prevent their risks in the laboratory, as well as how to deal with them and the conditions of storage of chemicals inside the laboratory.
The course witnessed a large presence by the Centre’s researchers and a number of college and researchers from colleges and research Centre at the university, and the course included some questions in different themes of the course topic and were answered by the lecturers.
