Continuation of Activities and the events it holds The Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre/Human Resources Development Department, in cooperation with the Centre for Continuing Education at the Presidency of the University of Anbar and under the supervision of the Director of the Centre, Professor Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel, the respected, concluded on Tuesday 20/2/2024, on the main hall in Centre course tagged:(rationing water use) which lasted for three days during the period18-20/2/2024.

The session was attended by (Assistant Professor Dr Muneer Naji Ahmed) which included the manifestations of drought and the reality of water in Iraq, and the emphasis on using appropriate means to rationalize water waste the second lecture was presented by:(Assistant Professor Dr Nowfal Adnan Sabry)  included ways and mechanisms to avoid the impact of drought on water, through planting appropriate plants and crop varieties that tolerate drought, as well as protecting and investing groundwater within controls, protecting groundwater from pollution for the sake of its sustainability, and harvesting and benefiting from rainwater and floods.

The purpose of holding this course, which concerns the water aspect as one of the most important aspects of life, was as follows:

·        Explaining the importance of water rationalization.

·        Explain why we need water rationalization in Iraq.

·        The future of water resources in Iraq.

·        How can we achieve optimal water management in Iraq?

·        The conclusions reached by the course outcomes are as follows:

·        There is a problem represented by the decrease in water imports to Iraq as a result of dams in Turkey and Syria and the climate changes that the world is witnessing.

·        The decline in water imports had a negative impact! On water quality.

·        Optimal water management and rationalization of consumption are very necessary! To combat water scarcity.

·        The agricultural sector represents the largest percentage of water consumption, so reducing irrigation water waste and using modern irrigation methods is a very important priority! Choosing the appropriate crop.

·        Follow a water harvesting system.

The session witnessed attendance well by the centre’s researchers and some professors and researchers from colleges and research centres at the university. The session included some questions on various topics on the Water, which concluded with a test on the topics that were presented in the course for all participants.
