Within the cultural season in the Department of Horticulture and Landscaping and under the generous patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Idham Ali Abd. a scientific workshop entitled The Reality of Vegetable Crops Cultivation in Iraq was held, in which Assist. Prof. Ali Ammar Ismaeel The lecturer reviewed the importance of cold storage and the weight loss or microbial damage in fruits and vegetables after harvest, and stressed the importance of using cold storage techniques in order to preserve the yield and reduce losses resulting from evaporation and infection with pathogens.  The lecturer observed the problems that of cold storage of fruits throughout Iraq and the possibility of developing solutions for the purpose of overcoming these obstacles in order to improve the production and marketing reality in order to achieve food security for the country. At the end of the workshop, scientific interventions were made from the attendees and appropriate recommendations were taken.
