For the purpose of developing skills and capabilities of department’s teachers in finding suitable international journals for publication based on the statistics of those journals in Scopus’ platform, to prevent the loosing of researcher’s effort by publishing with unreliable journals.

The first workshop was held, which dealt with (Characterization of specialized scientific journals indexed by Scopus platform). The workshop came within series of workshops to be held to introduce the scientific publication for teaching staff of Plant Protection Department. Prof.Dr. Ayoob Obaid Mohammed, the lecturer reviewed the use of advanced search options available within the Scopus platform and its use in determining the appropriate journals. The statistical indicators provided by the platform and the Scimago JR were also reviewed and used in evaluating the target scientific journal. Emphasis was also placed on general principles of coverage policy followed by Scopus platform in including the scientific journals, and tracking various update reports and their timing.
