Scientific Symposium

 

The department of Plant Protection, College of Agriculture at the University of Anbar held a in-person symposum entitled (Mycotoxins and Food Safety), (the vital role of insects in recycling food waste and producing protein) was held in which mcs. Waad Hamoudi Awad, a lecturer in the Department of Plant Protection/University of Anbar and mcs. Dargham Duraid Farhan, a lecturer in the Department of Plant Protection/University of Anbar

In the first part of the symposium, the lecturers reviewed the vital role of insects in recycling food waste in terms of concept, the life and behavior of these insects, and the review of organizations that approved the use of insects in this field, WHO and FAO.

The second part included a definition of the economic importance of these projects and some successful examples of the use of insects in the field of food and organic waste recycling and benefiting from them as biofertilizers, protein production and biofuel production.
