Headed by Prof. Ayoob Obaid Mohammad, Head of Plant Protection Department in our college, a scientific team that included local, Arab and international researchers succeeded in publishing scientific research titled " Ultrasonic Treatment Enhances Germination and Affects Antioxidant Gene Expression in Soybean (Glycine max L. Merr) " in an international journal: Agronomy-MDPI (ISSN: 2073-4395) The journal is indexed by Clarivate with an impact factor of: IF=3.949, Scopus with a Cite score=3.9, and within the first quartile in a Scimago=Q1 ranking. The journal is hosted by MDPI platform.

The current research aimed to investigate the role of ultrasound as seed priming technique on the deteriorated field crop seeds due to bad storage conditions, especially the seeds of oil crop, the soybean as a model. The study tested the possible relationship with the level of antioxidants gene expression. The physical effect of ultrasonic treatment on the seed coat was verified using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results indicated a clear effect on the seed coat, which was reflected in the level of gene expression and growth characteristics of soybean seedlings.Web Link
