The College of Agriculture discusses a master's thesis on combating downy mildew on cucumbers

The College of Agriculture discusses a master's thesis on "Isolation and identification of some fungi associated with cowpea root rot disease" The College of Agriculture at the University of Anbar discussed this morning, in the presence of Professor Dr. Cowpea Roots) by the student (Ahmed Jassem Awwad) in the Plant Protection Department. The committee consisted of:

Dr . Ahed Abd Ali / Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University / Al-Musayyib Technical College / Head.

Dr. Salim Hasan Saleh / University of Anbar - College of Agriculture / member .

Dr. Hammoud Mahidi Saleh / Anbar University - College of Agriculture / Member.

Dr. Theyab Abd Al-Wahed Farhan / University of Anbar - College of Agriculture / member and supervisor .

The aim of the thesis was to isolate and identify fungi associated with cowpea root rot disease in some governorates of Iraq.

And the use of plant extracts (pomegranate peels - catnip, bitter melon) as alternative methods in controlling cowpea root rot disease to avoid the negative effects used in controlling the disease, and the use of various agricultural methods (planting depths, plant density) in controlling cowpea root rot disease.

Recommendations: Paying attention to cowpea root rot disease through good management of agricultural soils, as the cause is a soil fungus.

Expanding the use of plant extracts (pomegranate peels, wild mint, bitter melon) as they have proven efficient in disease resistance and encouraging their use as alternatives to pesticides.

Cultivate the crop at a depth of 3 cm, with one seed per pot, to reduce the incidence of cowpea root rot disease. After extensive discussion by the committee members, the thesis was accepted after making the corrections recommended by the discussion committee... Congratulations to the student and the supervisor.
