Today, Thursday, January 18, 2024, the public discussion took place in the college’s Al-Jazari Hall for the master’s student (Ahmed Salem Khalaf) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering about his thesis titled: (Non-Linear Vibration and Stability of Composite Toroidal Shell Segment Containing Carbon Nanotubes within Shear Deformation Theory).

The discussion committee consisted of the following: Asst.Prof. Dr. Ghalib Ibrahim Razik, Chairman – Asst. Prof. Dr. Naseer Rashid Hamoud, Member – Asst.Prof. Dr. Khaldon Fadel Breidaa, Member – Asst.Prof Dr. Hamad Muhammad Hassan, member and supervisor. The aim was to study the nonlinear forced vibration of segments of toroidal structures reinforced with three-phase materials consisting of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), graphene sheets (GPLs), and epoxy. Finally, the study found that incorporating (GPLs and CNTs) into the matrix of the helical structure leads to improved performance, especially in concave structures compared to convex structures. The FG-X pattern optimizes the natural frequency and reduces the maximum resonant amplitude. For convex structures, FG-X reduces the maximum resonant amplitude by 12.3% compared to FG-O, and for concave structures, this reduction is 21.5%. Also, convex hulls show only nonlinear hardening behavior, while concave hulls show behavior varying from hardening to softening. Moreover, concave structures have a higher resonance peak amplitude than convex structures. Finally, the damping ratio and excitation load have a significant influence on the nonlinear resonance and vibration behavior. The discussion was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ameer Abdel Rahman Hilal, the respected and Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Higher Studies, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Ahmed, and Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Saad Muhammad Jalil and a number of teachers and studies students in the department.
Congratulations to the student for obtaining the certificate, and to the discussion committee, success and success, and our best wishes for completing the academic journey.
