Center of the Upper Euphrates Basin - Anbar University holds its first scientific conference

 

Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Qusay Al-Suhail Dr. Khalid Batal Al-Najem, President of Al-Anbar University The Development Center of the Upper Euphrates Basin at Al-Anbar University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering and Agriculture on the occasion of World Water Day, held the first international scientific conference under the title:

(Water management between the challenges of reality and the requirements of sustainable development).

On the corridors of modern city in Anbar province.

 

The conference started with a recitation from the Holy Quran, then the national anthem, the Anbar University, and speeches on the occasion by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the President of the University.

The conference was attended by representatives of the President of the House of Representatives and a number of deputies, the representative of the governor of Anbar, the representative of the president of the provincial council, a number of security leaders, the assistant head of the university for scientific affairs, deans of the colleges and academic figures.

 

The conference aims to study the water resources in Iraq (reality, challenges, possible solutions, rational management of irrigation water in Iraq, use of non-traditional water, treatment, salinity and hardship), agricultural development and food security in light of the challenges of water security in Iraq and the integrated management of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers and their tributaries And strategic water policies in the context of climate change and the establishment of dams and large reservoirs.

 

Including a three-day conference. 18 - 20/3/2019 several axes are:-

Hydrology and water harvesting.

* Water resources management and economics. *

. Two main axes are dams, reservoirs, water quality and pollution *

The conference will also include in the next two days other axes on the applications of GIS and remote investment in climate and water:

  The axis of agriculture and water.*

. * Other topics in the subject of irrigation technologies and management and economics of water resources.

* The last two axes will discuss water quality, pollution, hydrology and water harvesting.
