Methods of sterilization and preservation of tools and samples before and after use

Under the supervision and sponsorship of the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance at the Presidency of the University of Anbar and under the follow-up of the Director of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre, Prof. Dr. (Ammar Hatem Kamel), On Tuesday, 13/6/2023, the internal course of laboratories was completed at the Centre's building, named with: (Methods of sterilizing and preserving tools and samples before and after use), which lasted for three days, lectured by: Assistant Professor Dr. (Muthanna Badie Farhan), Assistant Professor Dr. (Hala Arshad Ali) and Head Researchers (Yasser Marei Nayef).

The course included theoretical lectures and practical training on how to sterilize tools of various types and sizes used to collect samples. The lecturers pointed to three important terms, namely cleaning, disinfection and sterilization, and what each term means through the quality of samples and the quality of the collection tools for each sample. As there are tools that need to sterilize at high temperature, dry or wet, and there are tools that are sterilized through the use of chemicals to get rid of organic matter or mineral elements adhering to the walls of the collection bottle, the lecturers noticed how to clean some glass tools such as bakers, pipettes and other glass tools that must be cleaned, sterilized and made ready for use if needed in the laboratory, and the lectures also dealt with other sterilization methods using gases and ultraviolet rays, as well as how to deal with biological and chemical waste and get rid of its effects in the tools that they contained.

At the end of the course, a written exam was held for all participants.
