Scientific symposium at the College of Science

 The Department of Biotechnology at the College of Science, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit, organized a scientific symposium entitled “Microbial Contamination” on Wednesday (March 6, 2024), in Ibn Sina Hall, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Ismat Ramzi Abdel Ghafour, and with the participation of a number of professors, researchers, and students.

The symposium was delivered by Professor Dr. Safaa Al-Muaini, a lecturer in the aforementioned department, who addressed in his lecture the concept of microbial pollution, its types, sources and effects on public health and the environment, reviewing some examples and scientific studies in this field.
Dr. Safaa stressed the importance of confronting microbial contamination with appropriate preventive and therapeutic means, in cooperation between concerned and competent authorities, through awareness and health education for the community, and by benefiting from modern and advanced technologies in the field of detection, analysis, monitoring and disposal of microbial pollutants.
At the end of the symposium, the floor was opened for discussion and dialogue between the lecturer and the attendees, who expressed their interest and appreciation for the topic and for the information and opinions that were presented, and exchanged questions, answers and suggestions in a spirit of respect and affection.
