Discussion of a master's thesis for student( Ahmed Dahir Abd)

The public discussion of a master’s student (Ahmed Dahir Abd Al-Amri), Department of Biology - College of Science - University of Anbar, took place on Monday 24/10/2022 at Jaber Bin Hayyan Hall in the College of Science for his thesis tagged:

Study of virulence Associated Genes in E. coli  isolated from UTIS

This study aimed to detect frequency of Uropathogenic E. coli virulence factors and their association with antibiotic resistance pattern. Of total 100 E. coli isolates identified as UPEC, 81 (81%) isolates were Multi-Drug Resistance (MDR) and 7 (7%) isolates were Extensively Drug-Resistant (XDR), whereas no Pandrug-resistant (PDR) isolate was identified. High correlation was observed between the resistance profile and the ability to form a biofilm with a statistically highly significant.PCR assay results showed that fimH (35%) was the most prevalent gene detected among UPEC isolates followed by aac3 (33%), blaTEM (23%), sul2 (19%), and hlyA (9%).High resistance pattern found towards the most antibiotic agents used in the study. Antimicrobial resistance is significantly linked to phenotypic and genotypic virulence factors. These results will aid in elucidating the pathogenicity of UTIs and guiding treatment decisions.
