  • Practical Practice:
  • The experiences include the work between 1994-now ( apart from; 2010-2013) in; Teaching Laboratories - Medical City Teaching Hospital Complex - Baghdad (Medical City Hospital, the largest hospital in Iraq of 1400 beds and its Haematology department is the largest Referral centre in the country with 100 beds, and it receives around 3000 BM Aspirates/Biopsies annually. The medical complex includes the national Blood bank, and the national inherited bleeding disorders care centre, Referral Haemoglobinopathy diagnostic unit, and the main referral Pediatric Haematology/Oncology unit), The National Center of Haematology – the University of Al-Mustansiriyah,  Iraqi Central Public Health Laboratory, Al-Ramadi Teaching Hospital and Al-Ramadi Teaching Hospital for Maternity and Children, in addition to the work of my private Lab. (Al-Ramadi Central Medical Laboratory) since 1999.

Haematological Practice:

  • General Haematology;
  • Routine examinations of Complete Blood Count (CBC) including blood film and platelets count.
  • Performance of Bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsy in addition to the preparation of the aspirate for the microscopical, cytochemical and immunochemical studies.
  • Bone marrow examination of both aspirate and biopsy.
  • Haemoglobinopathies studies; Including the traditional Osmotic fragility, Hb-electrophoresis, and HbA2 estimation, and detection of RBCs genetic abnormalities.
  • Coagulation studies; both manual and automated, including PT, PTT, TT, Fibrinogen assay and FDPs, coagulation factors assay, and screening and confirmative tests for coagulation abnormalities.
  • Transfusion studies; including blood grouping, cross-matching, and antibody screening tests, in addition to solving of the difficulties due to the presence of rare blood groups or antibodies, and transfusion reaction diagnosis and management.
  • Flow Cytometry for Diagnosis and typing of Leukaemias and Lymphomas.
  • PCR Technique for Haematological genetic abnormalities.

Biochemical Practice:

  • General and basic biochemical tests for the systems function.
  • Protein electrophoresis and some tests performed by ELIZA technique.
  • Hormonal Assay.
