Dr. Muayad A. Al-Sharrad is an Assistant Professor of Geotechnical Engineering with a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Glasgow, UK. His research focuses on unsaturated soil mechanics, gypseous and collapsible soils, and sustainable ground improvement techniques, including microbial-induced calcite precipitation (MICP), and geopolymer stabilization. He has published a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Géotechnique and Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment, and regularly supervises MSc theses on soil improvement and sustainable construction materials. Dr. Al-Sharrad is also active in academic reviewing and international collaboration.
Dr. Al-Sharrad is a member of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) and the Iraqi Geotechnical Society (IGS). In addition to his academic work, he serves as a soil and foundations engineering consultant, having provided numerous expert consultations on geotechnical issues. He has also supervised, within a specialized technical team, a large number of soil site investigations for infrastructure and construction projects.
