Molecular Study on Quorum System Genes and its correlated with Some Virulence Factors in Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

This study aimed to assess the correlation of production virulence factors with Quorum System genes (QS), and to study the effect of   natural compounds salicylic acid (SA) and cinnamaldehyde (CA) on gene expression of QS genes LasI and RhlR. Also, its effect on virulence factors production (Biofilm formation, pyocyanin, protease, and elastase) in P. aeruginosa.

The results showed that there is a relationship between the production of virulence factors and QS, and  this system is responsible for regulating the gene expression of virulence factors in P.aeruginosa, and The Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of natural compounds (SA,CA) led to a decrease in the gene expression  of QS and significant  reduces production of virulence factors without affecting the bacterial growth. This study showed that natural compounds have a significant inhibitory effect on the suppression of QS . Thus, results could give hope in the fight against resistant P. aeruginosa isolates by inhibiting QS genes regulating the gene expression of virulence factors.
