Planting New Species of Pomegranate at Al-Anbar University Agriculture Collage

     A team of Al-Anbar university Agriculture collage scientists and researchers succeeded in planting new species of pomegranate in Gypsum soil.

Dr. Rasmi Mohammed Hamad head of research team said that both experiments were carried on agriculture soil and irrigated from Euphrates using two spices on of them was Salimi Iraqi and the other was wonderful pomegranate which is an American one.

     One of the experiments was carried on Thameel desert area which is 70 km out of the city center, Dr. Hamad added that planting this spice of pomegranate at a desert area based on gypsum soil is considered as a great step on combating desertification basically suffer by Al-Anbar province and other neighboring ones as well as benefiting from this crop on economic term to produce huge quantities of pomegranate for agriculture marketing which is unknown in Iraqi market.

Its worth mentioning that this experiment was basically research for Master degree in agriculture specialties.
