Biography of Prof. Dr. Wissam Hashim Khalil
I graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Anbar in 1993, where I obtained my B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering. I continued my postgraduate studies at the University of Technology, Baghdad, earning a Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Fluid Dynamics in 1999, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Thermal Engineering in 2010.
My research has focused on heat transfer enhancement techniques, with an emphasis on improving the efficiency and performance of thermal systems. Building on this foundation, I expanded my research activities into the field of renewable energy, particularly the development and performance evaluation of solar energy systems. I have collaborated with specialized research groups on the design, modeling, and optimization of solar thermal systems, contributing to advancements in sustainable energy solutions.
My academic and research interests include heat transfer, thermal-fluid sciences, energy efficiency, and solar energy technologies, with a particular focus on practical applications suited to the climatic conditions of Iraq and the broader region.

In addition to my research activities, I have made significant academic contributions in Iraq. I have played a key role in the establishment of postgraduate study programs at several Iraqi universities and have served as a reviewer for scientific journals indexed in Scopus. For four years, I was a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Desert Studies. I have also been actively involved in scientific committees of national and international conferences, including serving as the Chair of the Scientific Committee for the University Student Projects Conference for three consecutive years. Furthermore, I have participated in numerous scientific conferences inside and outside Iraq, contributing to the exchange of knowledge and collaboration in my field.
