A Seminar presentation by Prof. Dr. Khalid Battal Al-Najem

As part of its academic & cultural calendar of the 2nd course of the academic year 2017/2018, the Department of Civil Engineering at the UOA College of engineering held a seminar titled "Projects Proposals of Postgraduate Candidates for the Academic Year 2017/2018". The seminar was presented by Prof. Dr. Khalid Battal Al-Najem, President of UOA, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Mahmood Khashe Badaiwi on the Seminars Hall on Tuesday, 24/4/2018. The session of the seminar was chaired by Assist. Prof. Dr. Akram Shakir Mahmood, head of the Department of Civil Engineering. Each of the two presenters gave a lecture to propose projects topics for postgraduate candidates. The two lectures of the seminar covered the following tracks:
1st Track: Reuse of Concrete as Coarse Aggregate in the Composition of Auto Compact Concrete. There is a high demand on this process because of the great amount of rubble from destroyed buildings in some cities.
2nd Track: Characteristics & Use of Recycled Metal Fibres in the Compsoition of Concrete
3rd Track: Composition of Light Weight Concrete by Using Plastic Fibres
The presentation of these topics highlighted their most significant scientific aspects and applications and their possible research potentials. Debates were carried as many questions being raised between the presenters and the attending staff members and students. The seminar was also attended by the head and members of the scientific committee of the department and postgraduate candidates of the preparatory year and research stages.
