University of Anbar President Chairs Meeting with Hiroshima University, Japan

In implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Hiroshima University in Japan, and in line with the strategic direction of the University of Anbar aimed at strengthening international academic and scientific cooperation, a meeting was held today, Thursday, March 5, 2026, with the assistant to the executive vice president of Hiroshima University, Professor Dr. Hani Al-Shami. The meeting was chaired by the President of the University of Anbar, Professor Dr. Mushtak Talib Al-Neda, in the presence of the Deans of the Colleges of Arts and Education for Humanities, the Director of the Center for Strategic Studies, the Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, and officials of the global rankings and academic follow-up units.

During the meeting, a roadmap was developed to frame scientific and academic cooperation with Hiroshima University through participation in scientific conferences. It was agreed to invite specialized professors in the field of peacebuilding to participate in the Strategic Studies Conference scheduled to be held in mid-April, as Hiroshima University is one of the leading universities in this field.

The meeting also discussed the establishment of specialized programs in the humanities and social sciences at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in cooperation with Hiroshima University, in addition to the possibility of reviewing current curricula in a way that meets the requirements of global labor markets.

At the level of faculty and student training and exchange, a roadmap was agreed upon for sending and receiving faculty members and students from both sides according to specific timelines.

The participants also agreed to form specialized committees that would serve the university’s various scientific disciplines in a manner that benefits both parties, aligns with the requirements of developing higher education and scientific research, and enhances the academic presence of the University of Anbar at the regional and international levels.
