The University President marked the start of the new academic year 2018-2019 by giving his address to the University

Dear colleagues

Dear students

May Allah's peace and blessing be upon you ..

All Praise and gratitude are due to Almighty Allah whose ultimate generosity has granted our sound and safe return to our University. As the hardest years of coerced displacement and compelled flee have gone away, and the start of our new academic year is marked; I extend my sincere gratefulness to your most appreciated efforts and dedication in fulfilling all your academic duties and goals which were not interrupted by the serious challenges we have all faced in the past blackjacking years. I fully recognize your deep commitment and collective endeavour to do your outmost in most extreme and dangerous conditions. A brave determination which I have marvelled at and highly acknowledge.

Today, we are marching on signalling a new milestone in the history of our University. The challenges are considerable, but so is the scale of our ambition. Although our University buildings infrastructures and equipment are severely damaged especially those of our laboratories, yet our progress is a head; whether in conducting novel research, developing our curricula or modernizing our teaching and learning processes to approach the fast-forward digital world. A mission that can only be accomplished, Allah willing, by your exceptional and collaborating efforts which I heavily rely on and demand, today and the years on.

Distinguish colleagues
Honourable students

Financial support is our most serious constrain that I have to address. It's consequences are apparent in the lack of  lecture halls, education structures and facilities. Nevertheless, we have collectively defeat this financial difficulties by adopting a self- funding plan. A plan that resulted in reconstructing, renovating  and reopening of some of our key structures. For example: the former Central Press building has been reconstructed and dedicated to Renewable Energy and Upper Euphrates Development Research Centres. Similarly, students activities building, the deanery of both the College of Science and Physical Education are renovated and allocated to be the  College of  Science Applied Mathematics Department and the College of Education History Department, respectively. The University indoor gymnasium and College of Physical Education halls are also reconstructed, so as the College of Law deanery. In addition to the construction of new lecture halls for the Chemistry Department of the College of Education for women. Other new achievements are underway, namely the renovating and restoring of what was formerly called the University Central Hall, the Martyrs Hall. The new assigned name is to acknowledge our deepest appreciation to their major sacrifice, without which neither we nor our University could survive and then thrive. Some  other structures and all essential infrastructures are also  renovated and maintained.

Finally, I would like to tell you that your ideas, advice and proposals are greatly welcomed. I'm striving to hear from you directly at every week meeting, or indirectly via our University website. Your voices will be our aspiration to do more and achieve more in all sectors of academic life. I can confidently assure you that we all together will leave no stone unturned to meet our ends, to advance the store of knowledge locally, nationally and globally.
My Allah grant your security, welfare and prosper.
