University of Anbar Achieves the Third Place in the Information and Communication Technology Competition in the Middle East 2021

The Middle East ICT Competition 2021, which is one of several initiatives by Huawei to nurture regional ICT talent, has recently concluded and this year's competition attendance consists of  (13) teams from 10 countries and (453) local organizations in their best innovative cases.

Where two teams from Iraq achieved third place, they are students from University of Anbar, the Lebanese French University - Erbil, Salah El-Din - Erbil and Cihan University, in addition to a team from Jordan that includes students from Al-Balqa Applied University.

This came during the closing ceremony that was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in person

In this competition where Huawei has cooperated with several public partners, such as education ministries, telecom regulators and youth empowerment authorities with the aim of developing local ICT eco systems, nurturing young talents and encouraging innovation among the next generation of ICT leaders. Participants received world-class training and knowledge from Huawei experts, followed by a national test held in their home countries, and continued until the final stage which included a 6-hour hands-on test to determine the final winners.

It is reported that this year a team from Pakistan comprising of students from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro and Islamic University of Haulpur won the first prize of US$20,000.

While the second place went to a team from Lebanon consisting of students from the American University of Science and Technology (AUST), the Lebanese University, Notre Dame University - Louaize, and a team from Pakistan consisting of students from Government College University, Faisalabad, Virtual University, Islamabad, and University of Mehran Engineering and Technology.

Other award categories included: Outstanding Partner Award, Excellent Academic Award, Outstanding Teacher Award, and Outstanding Performance Award Winners received awards including awards and certificates in recognition of their achievements.
