The President of the University of Anbar Heads a High-level Delegation

Professor Dr. Mushtaq Talib Saleh Al-Nida, President of the University of Anbar, headed a high-level delegation that also included the Vice President for Administrative Affairs and the directors of research centers at the University, in addition to the advisor of the President of the University for Public Relations to participate in the scientific symposium held by the Office of the Prime Minister, entitled (The Role of Centers for Studies and Research in Rendering the Government Program Successful.

The symposium covered three main topics: the issue of desertification and drought and ways to address it, chaired by Prof. Dr. Atheer Anwar Sharif, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, water salinity, required alternatives, wasted water sources, and sustainable development.

For his part, the President of the University of Anbar acknowledged the importance of this symposium, stressing that the University is well aware of the importance of the role of research centers and the ways to support them with all means and capabilities to enhance their role in serving the society. He extended his thanks to the advisors at the Prime Minister’s Office for the invitation to this important symposium.

The symposium was attended by Professor Dr. Adnan Al-Jumaili, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Administrative Affairs, and Deputies of the Ministries of Agriculture and Water Resources. In addition to the University of Anbar, delegations representing the universities of Mosul and Basra participated in the symposium, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Water Resources, and the Prime Minister’s Office, the official sponsor of this scientific symposium.

 

The participants and advisors organizing the symposium appreciated the active participation, ideas and comments of the University delegation, praising the great role of the presidency of the University of Anbar in developing and supporting this initiative, the beginning of which was launched from there.

At the conclusion of the symposium activities, the participants agreed on a number of recommendations, the most important of which is providing support to research centers and enhancing their role in serving the society in a way that enhances the success of the government program. The recommendations also included activating the proposal to establish a scientific research council, allocating a budget for scientific research through research centers, and strengthening the partnership between research centers at universities with the various state departments through contract formulas that serve both parties.
