Under the patronage of the President of the University of Anbar, Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Nida, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Emad Abdul-Rehman Muhammad Salih, the esteemed Dean of the College of Science, the activities of The 2nd Geological Conference of Iraqi Desert were launched, which is being held by the Department of Applied Geology at the College of Science - University of Anbar in cooperation with the Department of Geology at the University of Baghdad Sabah Today, Wednesday, corresponding to 10/13/2021, in the premises of the University of Anbar and at the Martyrs’ Hall, the conference included a large number of Iraqi geologists and researchers in the field of geology and earth science from various Iraqi universities.   Deans of colleges and a large number of directors of departments and service institutions.

The conference aims to enhance and develop geological knowledge in the Iraqi desert and the resources it contains that can contribute to supporting the national economy and encouraging local and international investment to invest these resources and supplement them with the process of geological development.

This conference comes as an extension of the first scientific conference that was held in the University of Baghdad. It is hoped that a conference will be held every three years, God willing. The conference included a discussion of 44 scientific papers that talked about the huge potentials of metal in the Iraqi desert, which can be used in major investment projects to advance the economic reality for Iraq, in addition to transferring the experiences of neighboring countries and urging them to start finding them on the ground.

The President of the University welcomed the participating scientific figures from all over Iraq, describing the conference as a mini Iraq in his speech at the opening of the conference, and he commended the efforts made by the scientific and preparatory committees in making this scientific forum a success.

On the one hand, and during the speech delivered by the Dean of the College of Sciences at the opening of the conference, he addressed the most beautiful words of welcome to the participants, stressing the possibility of benefiting from the recommendations in the prosperity of the national economy if they were taken into consideration with the participation of the relevant departments in addition to the investors, praising the efforts made by those in charge of this Conference .

Among the activities of the conference, which will continue until 10/15/2021, is a scientific trip to the regions of western Anbar (Al-Baghdadi - Heet - Haditha) to learn about the geological phenomena in Anbar, especially since most of the participants are visiting the province for the first time.

It is worth noting that the supporter of the conference is Anbar Governorate, represented by Dr. Ali Farhan Al-Dulaimi, the respected Governor of Anbar.
