Discussion of a PhD thesis for student (Sawsan Qahtan Taha)

A PhD thesis for the student (Sawsan Qahtan Taha) was discussed in the Department of Biology - College of Science - University of Anbar on Thursday  15/6/2021 at Jaber bin Hayyan Hall in the College of Science for her tagged thesis: (The inhibitory effect of ESBLs in clinical E.coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from patients with UTI and evaluate molecular characterization using PCR based replicon typing)

This study aimed to 1-Study the distribution of antibiotics resistance genes of extended spectrum  – Lactamases (ESBLs) in clinical E. coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in patients with UTI,

Identification and classification of bacterial plasmids associated with virulence and antimicrobial resistance by using PCR based replicon typing.

CTX-M was the commonest genotype (93.6%) and (95.6) in E.coli and K. pneumoniae respectively by PCR. In E.coli TEM was high 90.4% and 65.9% in K.pneumoniae, while SHV ratiowas 60.0% and 92.3% in E.coli and K.pneumonia respectively .      New replicons P1, N2 and X4 were detected in ESBL-producing in E.coli and K. pneumoniae in this study; as well as FIB-KN and FIB-KQ were detected in ESBL-producing K. pneumoniae that not detected in other previous studies.
