The public discussion of a master’s student (Haneen Imad Kadum) in the Department of Biology - College of Science - University of Anbar took place on Tuesday 5/10/2021 at Jaber bin Hayyan Hall in the College of Science about her thesis tagged:

)) TLR 2 gene polymorphism and some physiological Parameters in Psoriasis Iraqi patients in Anbar Province))

This study aimed to evaluate the association of the TLR-2 gene polymorphism at (rs4696480) position and some physiological parameter with psoriatic diseases in Iraqi patients at Anbar province.

The genetic polymorphism of the TLR2 gene was determined at a position rs4696480, which was presented with three genotypes (TT, TA, and AA) in plague psoriatic patients and controls. Comparing patients with controls, TLR2 rs4696480 TT genotype was significantly decreased (negative association) in plague psoriatic patients (20 vs. 50 %; P = 0.004), and the OR was 0.25 with PF of such difference was 0.375.   However, in terms of allele frequencies, the T alleles were significantly decreased (negative association) (45 vs. 67.5%, P= 0.003) with OR was 0. 39 and PF was 0.409 in patients than controls, while allele A was significantly increased (positive association) (55 vs. 32.5%, P=0.003) with OR was 2.54 and EF was 0.333 in patients compared to controls.

This study concluded that TLR2 rs4696480 TT genotype and T alleles are protected against psoriasis . A alleles showed positive association with the susceptibility to psoriatic patients in Iraqi population.
